Femi Adesina speaks on report FG to pay every Nigerian with BVN N30,000

The Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, has reacted to trending reports that he issued a statement saying every Nigerian with a Bank Verification Number will be paid N30,000 to stock up.
The report came amid speculations that the Federal Government was going to order a national lockdown of the country owing to the continuous spreading of the Coronavirus Disease.
The report quoted Adesina as having said the N30,000 was to enable those with BVN buy foodstuff for their homes before the lockdown.
Reacting in a terse statement on Saturday, Adesina said: “Fake news peddlers have concocted a statement, purportedly issued by me, saying FG will pay N30,000 to each Nigerian with BVN, to help them stock up before an impending national lockdown.
“Not me.
“The so-called statement is hereby disclaimed.”
